Sunday mornings - Senior High 10:00-11:00 AM
Beginning on September 13, the high school Sunday School class will begin a series on "How to Study the Bible." We'll dive into subjects like authorial intent, inspiration, context, genre, translation and more. We will take a look at some of the history behind the bibles we read, and at the end of the series we will go through the entire book of Ruth, applying the principles that we will have studied.
The number one thing for us to remember in this endeavor is that studying God's word is about learning more about Him and who we are in Him. It is important to know that bible knowledge isn't something we learn to feel "academic," nor is it something we use to club others with (although there are certainly times to take a stand for the truth). We must approach Scripture with due awe and humility to "learn what is pleasing to the Lord."

Wednesday nights - Junior and Senior High 7:00-8:30 PM
Every Wednesday from 7:00-8:30 (although some start showing up earlier!) night both the junior and senior high get together for a time of worshipping, learning, and just goofing off. We play and sing together, and we take closer looks at everyday situations in our culture ... and evaluate them through the grid of specific Scriptures. Theology must lead to "renewing of the mind," which ultimately and unavoidably leads to life application. Filtering the things around us through the truth of God's word helps us determine what is profitable and what is not ... and we can then make choices that will be glorifying to God.

We are very happy to announce that Kim Pyle will be assuming the duties of leading the junior high Sunday School class. Kim will be taking our junior high students through 7 Checkpoints; a comprehensive, biblical, systematic study of core doctrines and scriptures with a focus on life transformation and "ownership" of truth. GVBC is convinced that this study is ideal for establishing foundational concepts for a life that builds in spiritual maturity.
